I’ve spent the last forty years in the private sector helping companies, large and small, grow their businesses and create jobs. I have never run for office before now. However, I’m running for U.S. Senate from Georgia because I am truly concerned about the direction of our country.
America is at a crossroads. Some say that our great nation’s best days are behind us, but I know if you and I take bold action right now we can usher in the next wave of record U.S. economic growth and start solving the problems the career politicians have created.
The National Debt
One number sums up my concern: 21 trillion. We have a crushing $21 trillion national debt that is growing larger and larger every day. That’s over $148,000 for every American household. Our federal debt is now larger than our entire GDP. And the debt keeps growing because the politicians keep spending. About one third of federal government spending is borrowed.
And if the debt crisis wasn’t enough, we have an additional $100 trillion in future unfunded liabilities for Social Security, Medicaid, and federal employee benefits and pensions. Combined with a $21 trillion debt, that’s over $120 trillion! That’s a $1 million credit card bill for every household in America – about 20 times the average household income.
The results: A stalled economy where over 80% of jobs created this year are part-time jobs. If any of us got those kinds of results at our job, we would be fired, not promoted. Without a doubt, you and I have to make a bold stand right now before this economic crisis becomes unmanageable.
Career politicians created the current crisis and we cannot trust them to solve it. If we want different results from Washington, we have to send a different type of person to Washington. After 40 years in business, eventually working my way up to become a Fortune 500 CEO, I am uniquely qualified to help get our economy growing again and get government spending under control.
Just imagine someone in Washington who has actually created private sector jobs, balanced budgets, met payroll, and fought burdensome regulations. It can happen if you and I demand it. We are indeed at a crossroads, and the time to choose our course is… RIGHT NOW.
